A collective is a social entity whose members are grouped together indeterminately according to very different aspects - this could be a people, a religion, a state, a company or a social class. On the other hand, there are also organized collectives whose members cooperate purposefully as a group in specific communities of action.
Similarities between individuals form the basic element of collectivity. Every person has a variety of characteristics and interests that they share with different people.
People belong to several collectives, which illustrates the diversity of individual identity.
The individual brings only a part of their personality to each collective and at the same time acts as a link between different collectives - multicollectivity.
The interactive sound installation “collective science” attempts to reflect this network, this kind of social structure. It is a concept that requires participation in order to change its effect and perception. Like any collective, it lives from actors who participate in the process.

In a workshop situation, 10 DIY-synthesizers were built together.
Each of these sound generators is positioned below a loudspeaker so that the respective synth can only be heard from this direction. On the one hand, this speaker serves as a reference for setting the sound on the synth, and on the other hand, it is also part of the multi-channel sound system in the exhibition space.

This project was part of the exhibition series "Brodeln & Fertig" on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Kulturverein KAPU in Linz/Austria
